S.Ossetian Interior Minister Threatens to Arrest Georgian Top Officials

Interior Minister of breakaway South Ossetia Mikhail Mindzaev said on January 6 that the South Ossetian law enforcers will arrest Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili and Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili in case they enter Ossetian-controlled territory.

?We will be arresting people on our wanted list,? Mindzaev told reporters referring to the list of Georgian officials wanted by the South Ossetian law enforcers. Along with Okruashvili and Merabishvili the list also includes governor of Shida Kartli region Mikheil Kareli and chief of Military Police Aleksandre Sukhitashvili.

This statement by Mindzaev follows recent Georgian wire reports that Defense and Interior Ministers intended to visit the conflict zone on the Orthodox Christmas, on January 7.
