CIS Prolongs Chief Peacekeeper’s Authorities in Abkhazia
The Defense Ministers from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), who gathered in Moscow Wednesday, prolonged the authorities of Maj.-Gen. Sergey Chaban – commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces deployed in the Abkhaz conflict zone under the aegis of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The authorities of Sergey Chaban, who was appointed to this position in April, were prolonged for the next six months, news agency Interfax reports.
Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili did not attend this CIS Defense Minister’s meeting in Moscow.
