Georgian MFA Condemns Abduction of Civilian in Gali
The Georgian Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the kidnapping ethnic Georgia Revaz Jakhaia, 68, from the village of Saberio in the Gali district of breakaway Abkhazia on November 8.
?This fact indicates vividly that the [Russian] peacekeeping forces in the best case are turning a blind eye to the acts of armed criminal groups operating under the patronage of the separatist regime?s so called ‘law-enforcement authorities’ and terrorizing the ethnically Georgian population,? the statement issued by the Georgian Foreign Ministry on November 10 reads.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry claims that ?the reluctance of the international community to give due appraisal to this fact may bring the extremely escalated situation to a critical point.?
Earlier on November 5 the death of ethnic Georgian Daniel Tsurtsumia, a resident of the Gali district also triggered the Georgian Foreign Ministry to accuse the Russian peacekeeping forces stationed in the Abkhaz conflict zone of failing to perform the obligations under their mandate.
