Georgian Interior Minister Meets Russian Chief Peacekeeper
Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili held talks with Maj. Gen. Marat Kulakhmetov, the Commander of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, stationed in the South Ossetian Conflict zone, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported on October 18.
According to this report, the issue of handing over two Ossetians – Alek Ikayev and Igor Zaseyev – to the South Ossetian side was discussed during the talks. These two were arrested by Georgian police and are suspected in opening fire in the Georgian village of Berula in the South Ossetian conflict zone on October 2.
The Georgian Interior Ministry declined to comment on this report.
