South Ossetian law enforcers arrested Ruslan Mamitov, wanted by the Georgian police for having links with the shooting incident in a Georgian village in the conflict zone which injured two local residents on October 2, breakaway South Ossetia?s Press and Information Committee reported on October 4.

This statement by the South Ossetian side follows a demand by Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili October 4 for Tskhinvali to hand over Mamitov. The Georgian police arrested two other suspects Aleksander Ikayev and Igor Zaseev, but Mamitov escaped.

Interior Ministry of the South Ossetian Republic has launched a probe into the case. The Georgian side has been offered to provide [the South Ossetian side] with available evidence. According to the testimony given by Mamitov, it is clear that Alexander Ikayev and Igor Zaseev, who are currently in custody [in Tbilisi] had nothing to do with this case,? the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported.
