Oil Spill Reported from Baku-Supsa Pipeline

60 tons of oil leaked from the Baku-Supsa pipeline in the village of Norio in the Gardabani district in southern Georgia on October 4.

Oil thieves, who were stealing oil from the pipeline, were blamed as the cause of the leak.

The Georgian Ministry of Environment reported that the problem was promptly rectified and no major damage to the area occurred.

?Only 250 sq/m of land was polluted,? Badri Tsatava, chief of the Ecology Service at the Ministry of Environment, said.
