S.Ossetian Leader Visits Moscow
President of breakaway South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity, who is currently visiting Moscow, will hold talks with officials from the Russian energy giant Gazprom, Irina Gagloeva, spokesperson of the unrecognized republic?s government, told RIA Novosti news agency on October 4.
She said that that Kokoity will discuss plans to construct a gas pipeline between Alagir in Russia?s North Ossetian Republic and Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia with the representatives of Gazprom.
Currently, South Ossetia receives gas from Russia like other parts of Georgia, but this gas is delivered to the breakaway regions via the Georgian controlled territory. ?This [new] pipeline will lie in the South Ossetian-controlled territory,? Irina Gagloeva said.
