Putin: CIS Reform Not Easy
Russian President Vladimir Putin said after the summit of the leaders of Commonwealth Of Independent States (CIS) in Kazan on August 26 that ?all the issues related to the modernization of CIS bodies are extremely difficult.?
?We have different positions and we are trying to find mutually acceptable proposals through dialogue in order to the turn CIS into effective tool for cooperation,? Putin said.
?The improvement of integration institutions [of the CIS] is one of the priorities,? he said, adding that members of the CIS are interested in increasing the organization?s effectiveness.
President Putin was the only leader who made an official statement after the summit, according to the Georgian media.
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will convene a press conference on the morning on August 27 in Kazan.
