Poll: 86% of Georgians for Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts
A public opinion survey, which was funded by USAID and conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI) between May 26 and June 10, says that 86% of those 1,493 Georgian citizens surveyed believe that ?negotiations and peaceful means? should be the only methods employed in solving the Abkhaz and South Ossetian conflicts.
Last week some media sources, both Georgian and Russian, cited the very same survey by IRI, but claimed that 46% of the respondents supported a forceful resolution of the conflicts. According to the IRI report, only 10% of those interviewed supported using force “if necessary,” while 4% had no opinion either way.
This survey by the IRI was designed, coordinated and analyzed by Baltic Surveys/The Gallup Organization.
