CoE Pledges Assistance to Flood-Hit Regions of Georgia
Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE), Adam Daniel Rotfeld, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Poland, voiced his solidarity with the Georgian population affected by recent flooding and assured the Georgian authorities of the readiness of the CoE to help with reconstruction.
?The harm caused to the region?s unique historic heritage and the destruction of the natural environment constituted a major loss for Europe?s rich culture and landscape,? the CoE reported on May 10.
Floods and landslides in Georgia have affected Svaneti, Racha-Lechkhumi, the mountainous districts of the Adjara Autonomous Republic, several districts of Shida Karti, Kvemo Kartli and the Imereti regions.
