President Nominates Georgia’s Ambassador to Russia
President Saakashvili nominated chief of his administration Irakli Chubinishvili as Georgia’s new Ambassador to Russia, the Georgian President’s deputy spokesperson Alana Gagloeva announced on April 12.
She said that Gigi Ugulava, the Governor of the Samegrelo region, will take over Chubinishvili’s position and become chief of the President’s Administration. She also said that no final decision has been made yet about who will replace Gigi Ugulava.
The Georgian Ambassador to Russia position has remained vacant since a recent cabinet reshuffle in February, when former Ambassador to Russia Valery Chechelashvili became the Finance Minister.
