Tbilisi Protests Russian Officials’ Visit to Sokhumi

The Georgian Foreign Ministry expressed protest regarding the visit of the Russian officials to Sokhumi on April 2-6. The visit aimed at discussing joint investment projects with the secessionist authorities.

“Prior to the meeting planned in Geneva for April 7-8 and amid the active negotiations on bilateral relations between Georgia and the Russian Federation, such action by the Russian executive authorities is far from creating a relevant atmosphere for the solution of the problems facing the two countries,” the statement issued by the Georgian Foreign Ministry on April 5 reads.
