Abkhaz Foreign Minister Appointed

President of breakaway Abkhazia Sergey Bagapsh appointed Sergey Shamba as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abkhaz news agency Apsnypress reported.
 
?Sergey Shamba will represent the Abkhaz side at the Georgian-Abkhaz talks in Geneva [in April], since he has solid experience in conducting talks and he is familiar with the problems regarding the resolution of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict. I completely trust him, and therefore I appointed him as the Foreign Minister,? Sergey Bagapsh said at a news briefing in Sokhumi on March 21.  
 
Sergey Shamba also served as the Foreign Minister of breakaway Abkhaz during the presidency of Vladislav Ardzinba since 1997. He served as acting Foreign Minister after the new President took over office in February.
