Professional Unions Hand Over Part of its Assets to the State

Professional Unions of Georgia handed over 90% of its assets to the state, Georgian Economy Minister Lexo Alexishvili said at a news briefing on February 26.

?We have received a list of 49 facilities formerly owned by the Professional Unions, but we think there are more facilities than these 49,? Alexishvili said.

The Professional Unions assets include 55 facilities throughout Georgia, mainly recreation centers and resorts, as well as several sport complexes, both in Tbilisi and in other regions as well.

This decision to hand over part of these facilities to the state was taken at a session of the council of the Profession Unions on February 25, after the Parliamentary Committee for Legal Issues launched consideration of a draft law, on February 21, which envisages confiscation of all assets owned by the Professional Unions.
