Tskhinvali Condemns Terrorist Act in Gori

Authorities in Georgia?s breakaway South Ossetia condemned the terrorist act in the central Georgian town of Gori and warned the Georgian side not to link the car bomb explosion, which resulted in death of three policemen, to South Ossetia.

?Any attempts to use terrorist acts for escalating the confrontation between Georgians and Ossetians will only trigger an escalation of tension in the region,? RIA Novosti reported, quoting Secretary of the National Security Council of the unrecognized republic of South Ossetia Oleg Alborov.

?South Ossetia condemns terrorism as a means for achieving political purposes. South Ossetia has never resorted to terrorism,? Alborov added.

Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili, who arrived in Gori, said ?90-100 kilos of plastic explosive and TNT went off, presumably, by remote control.” Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili also said that it was ?a well-organized terrorist act.? However, officials can not yet pinpoint any concrete motive behind this explosion.
