Reports: Armed Group Raids Village in Abkhaz Conflict Zone

On January 11, a group of armed men raided the village of Ganmukhuri, in the Zugdidi district, located at the administrative border between breakaway Abkhazia and the rest of Georgia, and hijacked several cars, reported the Georgian media.

Inter-Press news agency and Rustavi 2 television both reported that it was ?a group of Abkhaz criminals? operating in the Gali district of breakaway Abkhazia.

According to the Inter-Press news agency, several local residents were kidnapped as well but were released shortly after the armed group left the village.
