Georgia Seeks EU Assistance in Border Monitoring
During talks in Brussels on December 9, Georgian Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili and Javier Solana, the European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, discussed the issue of the OSCE Border Monitoring Mission in Georgia, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.
Salome Zourabichvili asked Javier Solana to render assistance in border monitoring, ?in case the OSCE suspends its mission on the Russian-Georgian border.?
The OSCE Border Operation?s mandate expires in late December. However, due to Russia?s negative position towards the OSCE border monitoring mission, the issue of its extension has come under doubt.
