Guard Killed in Mass Jailbreak

41 inmates escaped last night from the Geguti prison, near the western Georgian city of Kutaisi, after killing one prison guard.

The police recaptured 6 of the jailbreakers later on June 15.

Georgian Interior Minister Irakli Okruashvili gave the jailbreakers two days to return voluntarily.

?All those jailbreakers who return voluntarily within two days will avoid additional punishment,? the Interior Minister said in a interview with Rustavi 2 TV company on June 15.

 According to the law-enforcement agencies, only five of the forty-one jailbreakers were convicted of serious crimes.
