Kidnapped NGO Activist Released in Abkhazia
Davit Badzagua, who was abducted in Georgia’s breakaway Abkhazia, was released on March 26, after three months of detention.
Head of Zugdidi-based NGO David Badzagua was abducted late on 27 January, while returning from Gali district of breakaway Abkhazia, after his organization distributed Georgian books in Gali. The district is predominately populated by Georgians.
“They [Abkhaz side] thought I was a Georgian spy,” Davit Badzagua told Rustavi 2 television.
