PACE Delegation Pays Pre-Election Visit to Georgia
A five-member, Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) delegation, led by Mátyás Eörsi, pays a pre-election visit to Georgia on February 25-28.
The PACE delegation will assess preparations for the parliamentary elections, scheduled for March 28.
Council of Europe Secretary General Walter Schwimmer visited Georgia last week. Georgian authorities already defied some of his recommendations regarding elections, including reduction of 7% threshold, necessary for securing seats in the Parliament, to 4-5%.
A full delegation of up to 30 PACE members will observe the polling as part of an international election observation mission.
