Transport Minister Arrested

Acting Minister of Transport and Communications of Georgia Merab Adeishvili was detained on February 3.
 
He is accused of misuse of power and misappropriation of state funds.
 
“Adeishvili is presently suspected of misappropriation of 500,000 million Lari, however I do not rule out that the sum may significantly increase in the process of investigation and reach some 13 million Lari,” Prosecutor General Irakli Okruashvili said.

Merab Adeishvili, who filed resignation after the new President’s inauguration, denies accusations and says that the arrest is politically motivated.
