New Leadership “Nothing to do” with Berezovsky Visit

Spokesman of the Interim President Giorgi Arveladze said today, the short visit of Russian tycoon Boris Berezovsky to Tbilisi ?has nothing common with the Georgian government.?

?If Berezovsky arrived in Tbilisi illegally, those who helped him enter into Georgia will be punished. Secretary of the National Security Council Jemal Gakhokidze was entrusted to investigate the case within two days,? Giorgi Arveladze said at a special news briefing on December 3.

He confirmed that Boris Berezovsky met in Tbilisi with Georgian media tycoon and his former leutenant Badri Patarkatsishvili, adding that the details of the meeting are not known for the authorities.

Spokesman for the Georgian Border Guard Department Shalva Londaridze told Civil Georgia that Berezovsky, who is wanted by Russia for fraud allegations, arrived in Tbilisi airport at 12:15 am and left the Georgian capital at 5 am on December 3.

He also confirmed that Berezovsky arrived in Tbilisi from Britain with the plane owned by Patarkatsishvili.

Londaridze said that Berezovsky is not wanted by Georgia, thus he had no problems with Georgian entry visa. Other details of Berezovsky?s 5-hour long visit to the Georgian capital remain unknown.
