Saakashvili Sets One Hour Ultimatum to Shevardnadze

Opposition Mikheil Saakashvili offered President Shevardnadze “to come to the protest rally and meet thousands of people gathered here.”

“If he [Shevardnadze] is as brave as he claims, let him come here and look into eyes of these people demanding his resignation. I guarantee him that none of us will attack him. If within an hour, before 5:30 pm, Shevardnadze does not come here, I will not recognize him as a president any more,” Saakashvili said.

Around 25 thousand people gathered in front of the parliament today to demand President Shevardnadze’s resignation.
