Election Watchdog: Situation is Alarming

Zurab Chiaberashvili of the election observer NGO International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED) said at a new briefing that the reports from the precincts “are alarming.”

“But the we still have a chance to save these elections. I call on the voters to be active and defend their votes and restore voter rights. The observers and the mass media are also playing an important role,” he said.

“I can not predict what will happen after 20:00, when the polling stations are closed, but auguries are not good,” Zurab Chiaberashvili said.

He also said that ISFED observers faced “huge pressure all over Georgia.” “Some of our observers were beaten, many of them were forced out of the precincts,” he added.
