Opposition MP Candidate Stands Down
Davit Salaridze, member of the Burjanadze-Democrats election bloc stated today that he would not participate in the November 2 parliamentary elections.
The controversy over Salaridze was triggered after he supported the MP candidate from the pro-presidential election bloc For New Georgia Levan Chrdileli in his election advertisement, that caused protest of the Burjanadze-Democrats leadership.
“My dignity is more important for me then parliamentary membership. If I do not participate in the elections with Burjanadze-Democrats, it does not mean that I do not support this bloc anymore. I will always stand by this alliance,” Salaridze said at the meeting of the bloc with the Tbilisi voters on October 30.
The leaders of the Burjanadze-Democrats election bloc approved Salaridze?s decision.
