Georgia, U.S. to Boost Military Cooperation

“The Georgian-American cooperation has entered a new phase”, Georgian Defense Minister Davit Tevzadze said at a news briefing, which was held on October 21 upon his arrival from the United States.

During the visit to the U.S. the sides reached an agreement on prolongation of the US-funded Train and Equip Program for three years.

As the Georgian Defense Minister reported, a group of U.S. military experts will arrive to Tbilisi in mid November to get acquainted with the problems of the Georgian Armed Forces, to assess the level of training of the 11th brigade, which was trained under the Train and Equip Program.

“The U.S. experts intend to take active part in reformation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Georgia”, Tevzadze added.
