PACE Delegation Assesses Pre-Election Situation

The delegation of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, led by co-rapporteur on Georgia Matyas Eorsi, will start today the fifth fact-finding visit in Georgia to assess the pre-election processes in the country.

The members of the delegation will hold meetings with Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili, Prosecutor General Nugzar Gabrichidze, and the representatives of pro-governmental and opposition parties.

During its previous visit to Tbilisi on June 3 the CoE delegation focused on preparations for the parliamentary elections, scheduled for November 2, including revision of the electoral code, updating of voters’ lists, as well as the political climate ahead of the poll, including freedom of media.
