Voting on Election Code Failed due to Lack of Quorum
(Tbilisi, August 13, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Parliament could not hold voting on amendments to the Election Code on August 12 because not enough Parliament members were present to make up a quorum. The voting is scheduled for this morning.
The amendments consider broad anti-fraud measures. MPs also intend to vote on a controversial proposal, which would prohibit current members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) from being nominated for the new CEC.
