Public Figures Concerned Over Radicalism in Orthodox Church
(Tbilisi, July 28, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Open letter to the Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church Ilia II, signed by forty-two public figures, voices concern that the ties broken between the society and the Georgian Orthodox Church.
The letter calls on the Patriarch Illia II to resist “the increased radicalism and xenophobia in the Orthodox Church of Georgia.” The letter also urges Illia II to voice concern over the violation of religious minorities’ rights.
