State Electricity Network Employees Threaten Strike
(Tbilisi, May 27 2003, Civil Georgia) The employees of the State Electricity Network threaten to switch off the energy system if their employer does not cover more than 18 months of salary arrears.
“We have a single demand – stop pocketing our funds. This is possible if electricity is delivered only to solvent objects and the collected funds are transferred to our account”, – Pirtskhelani told the journalists today.
He also said the new owner of the electricity network – Irish company SBI, under the contract, should have covered the salary arrears.Today’s talks between the company leadership and the employees yielded no results. The company demands more time to fulfill this obligations.
