Construction of the Georgian Sector of BTC Pipeline Starts

The ceremony is to be attended by President Eduard Shevardnadze and representatives of other countries and companies, participating in BTC project.

Georgian authorities gave green light to construction of the pipeline on the Georgian territory last December after tense debates regarding ecological safety of the project.

The BTC pipeline will export Azeri oil through Georgia and Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan to the western markets.
