Turkish Airlines, British Mediterranean Airways Suspend Georgia Flights
(Tbilisi. April 15, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Turkish Airlines and British Mediterranean Airways suspend flights to and from Georgia starting April 15.
Georgian authorities claim foreign carriers illegally enjoy the tax benefits as the relevant agreements are not ratified by the Parliament.
Georgian flagship Airzena company demands that the Turkish Airlines and British Mediterranean Airways, conclude agreement with the Airzena considering payment of compensations for the unilateral outbound flights to Istanbul and London .
Tamuna Shanidze, Spokesperson for the British Airways Tbilisi Office told Civil Georgia today that the British Mediterranean Airways will conduct ?last flight from London in Tbilisi today and then the flights will be suspended.?
?However by the end of the day [April 15] we will know final decision of the Georgian authorities,? she added.
