Kidnapped Governor’s Son Released
(Tbilisi. March 20, 2003. Civil Georgia) – After the special operation police released Zaza Jikia, which is the son of the governor of the western Georgian region of Samegrelo, in Tbilisi on March 20. He was held in abduction since March 15.
Spokesman for the Interior Ministry Paata Gomelauri told Civil Georgia that 6 men, suspected in abduction case were detained today in different districts of the capital city Tbilisi.
“According to the preliminary information the reason of kidnapping was to receive ransom,” Interior Ministry Spokesman said.
