MPs Urge Finance Ministry to Calculate Russia’s Military Debt to Georgia
(Tbilisi. February 27, 2003. Civil Georgia) – The issue of Russia’s debt to Georgia for use of military bases deployed in Georgia was discussed at the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security today.
The Committee requested Georgian Finance Ministry to calculate the total sum of the debt.
According to the Committee’s calculations Russia’s debt for use of the military bases in Georgia since 1992 consisted approximately USD 300 million.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry reports that the issue of rent payment for use of military bases will be raised by the Georgian side during the Russo-Georgian talks on military problems in April.
