Shevardnadze Meets US Envoy for Eurasian Conflicts

(Tbilisi, January 29, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Georgian President Shevardnadze meets with Rudolf Perina, the US Special Negotiator for Nagorno-Karabakh and Eurasian Conflicts today in Kiev.

It is anticipated that the situation in the Abkhazian conflict zone will the top issue discussed during the meeting.

Eduard Shevardnadze stated after the meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on January 28 that the issue of the Russian peacekeepers’ mandate deployed in Abkhaz conflict zone will be decided on January 29.

It is also anticipated that Georgian President will discuss the peacekeepers’ issue with the US special envoy.
