(Tbilisi, December 23, 2002. Civil Georgia) -State Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania accused Davit Shengelia, leader of the Georgian partisan group “Forest Brothers” active in Abkhazia in smuggling.

At the meeting of the National Security Council on December 21 Valeri Khaburdzania said that Davit Shengelia is involved in contraband at the administrative border between breakaway Abkhazia and the rest of Georgia.

Davit Shengelia, the leader of the Georgian guerrilla group operating in breakaway Abkhazia, was appointed on the post of the deputy head of Gali district in mid-November by the Abkhaz government-in-exile headquartered in Tbilisi.
