Largest Hydroelectric Power Station Damaged
(Tbilisi, November 9, Civil Georgia) – Damage at the Enguri hydroelectric power station in western Georgia caused blackouts in the country on November 8.
At the moment electricity supply in the Georgian capital Tbilisi is limited.
Enguri hydroelectric station is the largest in the country supplying 700 megawatt per day. Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia receives the electricity from Enguri station, which located at the border of Abkhazia and the rest of Georgia, as well.
