Sukhumi Authority Awarded Syrian Citizens

(Tbilisi, August 28 2002, Civil Georgia) During his visit to Syria deputy Prime Minister of self-declared Abkhazia Vladimir Zantaria awarded 8 Syrian citizens with decoration of “Leon” for courage.

According to order of President of self-declared Abkhazia – Ardzinba “Syrian citizens were awarded for their courage and heroism shown in the war of Abkhaz people for their independence in 1992-1993”, informs “Apsnipress”.

Ceremony was held during the meeting of representatives of Abkhaz authorities and Cherkez Diaspora in Syria. The Syrian MP Sharaf Amarshan chaired the meeting.

Abkhaz delegation consists of deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Zantaria, Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergei Shamba and Chairman of Committee on Repatriation Givi Dupua. Abkhaz delegation held meeting with Abkhaz Diaspora in Turkey yesterday.
