Shevardnadze Says Georgia Member of Anti-Terror Coalition
“Launching of the Train-and-Equip program is a new step in the Georgian-US strategic partnership”, Georgian President stated in his traditional Monday radiobroadcast on May 6.
Eduard Shevardnadze said that the US military assistance means Georgia’s involvement in the global coalition against terror.
“The strong Georgia is preferable for our neighbors, first of all for Russia,” the President stated.
On April 29 the US Special Operations Command Europe [SOCEUR] site survey team of approximately 20 people arrived in Georgia to coordinate Train-and-Equip program’s logistical requirements.
