Russian Rules out Chechen Refugees Deportation

(Tbilisi, February 15, Civil Georgia) – Russian Emergency deputy minister Yuri Brazhnikov stated that Chechen refugees’ repatriation will be held on the voluntary bases.

Brazhnikov leads the Russian delegation on Chechen refugees’ repatriation issues visiting Georgia on February 14-15.

Deputy Minister states that the group of people misinforms Chechen refugees living in Pankisi gorge, that in case of return they will be placed in filtration camps of Russian Federal forces.

Brazhnikov did not exclude that the part of refugees may be dispatch to Chechnya in order to defuse misunderstanding among the refugees.
