Security Minister Admits Inability to Control Pankisi Gorge

(Tbilisi. December 28. Civil Georgia) – “It is difficult to say whether or not there are Chechen fighters in Pankisi gorge, because Georgian law enforcers do not control most of the territory in Pankisi,” State Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania told to the Georgian news agency Prime News on December 28.

Valeri Khaburdzania stated that skyrocketing crime rates seriously aggravate the situation in Pankisi gorge, mountainous region in Eastern Georgia bordering with Chechnya.
