Shevardnadze: Explosion at Power Plant May Be Terrorist Act
(Tbilisi. December 24. Civil Georgia) – President Shevardnadze does not exclude that the explosion at the power-generating unit owned by the American AES company was a terrorist act. “I do not have a conformations of this version at the moment. The power-generating unit is heavily guarded plant,” President Shevardnadze stated at the briefing on December 24.
The AES company representatives support the version of the terrorist act, as a gas leak cannot cause such a powerful explosion, they say.
Electricity is supplied exclusively to the city’s most vital facilities at moment. Georgian Energy Minister Davit Mirstskhulava stated yesterday that Georgia increased electricity supply from Russia. Georgia holds negotiations with Armenia as well to increase electricity supply.
