Media Acquitted in a Second Libel Case against ex-Ministers in a Row

(Tbilisi. December 21. Civil Georgia) – Tbilisi district court acquitted the Resonance newspaper sued by the ex-Internal Affairs Minister Kakha Targamadze for libel. Targamadze demanded from the independent Georgian newspaper 1 million Lari (approximately $500,000) in moral damages.

The Resonance Daily published in May an article suggesting that then Internal Affairs Minister Kakha Targamadze illegally appropriated the football club Tbilisi Dinamo.

Kakha Targamadze is the second ex-high official who fails to win the libel suit in last few days. On December 18, Tbilisi district court acquitted Head of the National Library Levan Berdzenishvili sued by the Former Minister of Economy, Industry and Trade Vano Chkhartishvili for.
