PM Hails EU Statement as Important Act of Support

Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said at a government session that the Conclusions on Russian-Georgian tensions adopted by the EU General Affairs and External Relations on October 17 are ?very important.?

?This means that the European Union will not leave such events unaddressed, when one country obviously oppresses the other country. In this case, I naturally mean Georgia and Russia,? Nogaideli said on October 18.

He also said that the anti-Georgian campaign in Russia is alarming.

?Most alarming was not the fact of imposing sanctions against Georgia, but the attitude towards the Georgians and Georgian citizens in Russia, which was orchestrated by the top leadership [of Russia],? the Georgian Prime Minister said.
