Lavrov Slams Tbilisi’s Policy on Conflicts

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in the interview with the Ekho Mosvky radio station on July 19 that Georgia “sabotages operation of those mechanisms, which were created for settlement of Abkhaz and South Ossetian conflicts.”

He criticized Tbilisi for rejecting to sign agreements with the Abkhaz and South Ossetian sides on non-resumption of hostilities.

Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said on July 18 that the Georgian side will not sign these agreements “in frames of the current [Russian-led] peacekeeping operations.”
