Chief of Tbilisi Municipality Transport Service Resigns

Chief of the Transport Service Department at the Tbilisi Municipality Zurab Chikviladze, who is the husband of MP Maia Nadiradze, leader of the parliamentary majority, filed his resignation on June 15.
 
Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava said on June 15 that this ?resignation was a result of Chikviladze?s personal decision and nothing more.?

Recently, the opposition lawmakers from the Democratic Front parliamentary faction accused Zurab Chikviladze of corruption and financial wrongdoings.

In February the Democratic Front demanded to set up an investigative commission which would probe into the alleged business interests of MP Maia Nadiradze and her husband Zurab Chikviladze.  This request was denied and the faction launched an independent investigation.
