U.S. Official Calls for Cautioun in Gas Pipeline Privatization

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary Matthew Bryza and President Saakashvili discussed energy security issues during a meeting which took place in Astana on the sideline of the Kazakh President?s inauguration on January 11.


In an interview with the Rustavi 2 television, Matthew Bryza said that Georgia?s dependence on Russian gas will increase further in the event that the gas trunk pipeline is sold to the Russian energy giant Gazprom. Bryza was speaking in English with a Georgian translation voiceover.
