PM Hopeful over Talks with Kokoity

Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said on September 22 that his meeting with South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity will be held “in the future,” however he did not specify an exact time.

The talks between the Georgian Prime Minister and the South Ossetian de facto President were planned for late September. However, following the incident involving mortar attack on South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali on September 20, Kokoity said the South Ossetian side will not participate in the Joint Control Commission (JCC), until official Tbilisi apologizes for shelling Tskhinvali. Naturally, the talks between Nogaideli and Kokoity were thwarted as well.

?It seems that the de facto authorities are not interested in eradicating provocations in the region,? the Georgian Prime Minister told reporters.

He said, that the Georgian authorities will continue to work over a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
