Swedish-Ukraine Investment Fund Buys into Bank of Georgia

The National Bank of Georgia reported that East Capital Bering Ukraine Fund bought 5.5% of shares of the Bank of Georgia for USD 2.6 million.


East Capital Bering Ukraine was established on 30 July 2005 and is managed by East Capital Alternative Investments (Cayman) Ltd and will be listed on the Cayman Stock Exchange. East Capital Eastern European Fund is a Swedish investment firm with one of the highest ratings awarded by Standard&Poors rating agency.

The East Capital Bering Ukraine was established to exploit long-term potential of the fast-growing Ukrainian market, counting on raise in stocks of the Ukrainian companies, triggered by the rapid GDP growth and the political changes. The company made no official announement on its decision to purchase stocks in Georgia.
