Leading Opposition Parties Agree on Cooperation

(Tbilisi, May 13, 2003. Civil Georgia) – National Movement and United Democrats parties joint today the initiative of the New Rights party to create Anti-Crisis Center aiming at preventing ballot fraud in the Parliamentary elections.

The Labors Party of Georgia has already jointed the initiative earlier today.

?We should forget disagreements and unite for fair elections,? Zurab Zhvania, leader of the United Democrats party said after the joining to the initiative.

Opposition leaders say that this initiative does not mean creation of the united election block.

?Our prime goal should be adoption of the new Election Code, which would enable conduction of the democratic elections,? Kote Kemularia of National Movement told Civil Georgia today.

All the previous attempts of the opposition parties to unite and carry out joint policy against the pro-governmental parties have failed.
